Maybelline’s Green and Pink Great Lash Mascara is ubquitious. Almost every drugstore in the country sells it, and it can be counted on for its cheap price ($4.99 at my drugstore). I used this product in high school, and my mother used it when she went to high school. Now Maybelline is producing a new version of Great Lash. It’s called the “Great Lash Big.” The difference between the new and old version isn’t much. Both Great Lash and Great Lash Big have mascara that lasts long but tends to clump. The Great Lash Big has a much bigger wand than the Great Lash. The gigantic wand is not an improvement. Its hard to apply mascara deftly. Its even harder to apply mascara when you can’t see your eyelashes in the mirror, because the wand is blocking your eyes.
This March 17th, I’m going to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. Drinking green beer until it hurts doesn’t appeal to me. And sporting a construction paper gold and green hat doesn’t work for me either. But I will wear the green. Using an eyebrow brush, I’m going to blend liquid metallic green eyeshadow on my eyelids. Then I am going to blend in just a bit of gold metallic liquid eyeshadow on top of the green. Whether you see me or not on St. Paddy’s Day, raise a glass to our health. I’ll do the same.
We are in a gloomy period with a winter that saw record lows, a recession that is not receding, and continuous tumult in the Mideast. So we need to deal with our low spirits. One way is to use a lotion, cream, or soap that contains a lavendar fragrance. Certainly smelling like lavendar won’t fix our weighty problems, but it will alleviate some stress. Lavendar has long been thought to be calming and soothing. Sniffing lavendar won’t make your troubles go away. It just will make you smile.
